club news april 2006
hi all,

welcome to guests joe porata and ryan quinn and it was good to see andy wilcox who visits us from southern california every month or so. congratulations to group winners dave mead, rick close and ron mallory.

following are the items identified to be on the agenda for this saturdays meeting:

  • round robin option not to move up.
  • intra-club team challenges.
  • purchase of a robot.
  • doubles night.
  • inter-club challenges..nevada city, reno, sacramento, sun city.
  • memberships.
  • optimum size of club i.e. best number of players based on number of tables.
  • round robin format.
  • more information on website i.e. member bios, round robin rules, etc.
  • larger venue, which would mean playing on another evening or moving between 2 locations.
  • local tournament.
  • age minimums.
  • lessons.

an agenda will be developed from the above and will be ordered differently. not all of the above will be discussed in much detail unless there is an advocate for a particular position. the state of the club will precede the discussion. we will fully discuss each item but with an eye towards concluding by noon. we wish all attending to freely voice their opinion regarding the future of the club and its policies.

gerry mifsud will take minutes and they will be published on our website. the gate will be open @ 9:30 with the meeting @ 10:00. there will be light refreshments (coffee etc). if you dont have directions but want to attend the meeting email me at timaq@yahoo.com and i will reply.

hi all,

we now have our very own website http://www.auburntabletennis.com/. bookmark it and get details of the weekly round robin and other information about our club. congratulations to phil joffe and greg cehan for winning their groups.

some more items submitted by members for consideration in our up coming general meeting on 4/29.

  • annual membership dues where member-playing fees would remain the same and non-members would be increased.
  • intra-club team competition composing of singles and doubles.
  • inter-club competition with reno, sacramento and nevada city, sun city.

the way our club looks 6 months from now may well depend on the information shared in the meeting. if you don't attend and voice your opinion regarding the future of the club your ideas will probably not be a factor. i will have maps to the meeting location next wednesday. if you can't make wednesday but want to attend the meeting email me at timaq@yahoo.com and i will send you directions.
